Welcome to my neighborhood...
For the Memorial Day weekend we had decided to stay close to home. Taking a holiday in our own neighborhood.
I want to share some pictures. And a very interesting Neighbor of mine, from a very Popular Forest...
Do click on the pictures for a better view of my beautiful neighborhood.
All around my neighborhood, just down the road
less then a mile are beautiful farms I love to drive by every time I go out.

This farm (below) is just about 100 yards from my home. I see it nearly everyday, and it is so beautiful.

Every trip to the post office, I see these guys.

And my most interesting Neighbor...

Mr. Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest Platation.

This is the front of the house...

The Plantation...

The back...

This brick wall surrounds the Rose garden. No Roses yet.

These trees in front of the house are over 250 years old.

A 4,819-acre plantation given to Thomas Jefferson and his wife Martha in 1773 by his Father-in-law.
And it is right here located in my neighborhood.

It was to be his retreat.

Thomas Jefferson hoped to spend more time here to pursue his passions of reading, writing, and gardening. However, that did not work out for him as he wished.
He and his family did spend two months here in 1781 when he had to hide out to elude British capture.

The property is now being restored by a nonprofit corporation. Restoring it to its original beauty for future generations.

The Out house...

This is the road heading to the plantation.

Have a great weekend.

Whisked Away...
on Mothers Day.
I've been away.
After a delicious Mothers day breakfast of french toast croissant, my sweet husband took me on a trip to the beach for the week. We spent the week at one of our favorite places,
Isle of Palms, South Carolina.
Roxy and I were packed and ready to go in no time. This is especially a fun trip for her, as you can tell from the pictures.
above: Roxy praying she will see a sandpiper

Dream Houses, these are 3 of my favorite right on the beach.

Do click on these pictures, for a close up of these beauties.

Roxy's prayers answered. Sandpipers and Seagulls
For many, many miles Roxy chases after birds. Gets a pat on the head from a stranger or two, then back to her hunt.
Retrievers, that is all they want to do, retrieve.
Not to worry, she will never get close enough.
Finally, she had enough, till the next day anyway.
Now it was my turn to hunt.
Time to hit the Antique shops.

I hope you enjoyed my pictures.
There is more but I'll save them for another time.
Smiles,
Becky
