Back to Angels...

I want to add a great big "THANK YOU" to Mica from my favorate blog http://garboodles.typepad.com/ for my new banner she made for me. What a sweet heart . Mica, Your an Angel
I thought I'd share what I've been working on lately. With all that is going on this month I did get some sewing in also. This little "Princess Fairy" is the latest. I found this great fabric weeks ago.
(don't you just love pink?) I finally pulled it out and made something with it. This is what I came up with. The dress is a cotton muted a bit with stain. Her wings are made of paper and wire. I am loving working with paper again. And her crown is made of paper also with mother of pearl buttons all around it. Muslin body, with time warn look and handed painted face. I also added a little ladies old watch face to her collar.
Here is a close up of her face.

I liked the small one so much I made a larger on. She now resides in Virginia Beach waiting for a new home.
I've also still have been making Mermaids. They are swimming right out of the doors at Portobello Road. These two are the latest ones. The one with the blue tail is"Mikala" she's the larger of the two. The smaller one has cream colored tail, I named her "Molly".

I am working on
many other. I will
be making them available
for purchase soon.
So please stay tuned...

My lil drummer boy...

Happy Birthday to you...Happy Birthday to you...Happy Birthday lil Davey... Happy Birthday to you.

~July 26, 1986~
~One day old~

Today is my one and only son Birthday. My son David. In this picture he is just one day old. And today he turns "21".He was born to us on this day, July 25, 1986. Weight:8 lbs 15 oz. and 19 inches long. Big feet, long fingers, and music in his soul. When I was carrying him I always put a music box to my belly at night to lull him, but it made him move, kick, dance. After he was born he kicked his feet about to the sound of anything with a beat. From the day he could stand this lil one wanted to move to music. Long car rides from California to Florida, we had the tunes on and he was a happy traveler. Had a walkman (remember those) CD player then Ipod, in his hands whenever you see him. And now he writes music and plays the keyboard and guitar too. The only thing he would put the music down for was to swim in the pool or the ocean. Learned to swim at about 4, and surf at 10. Drumming became his passion at the age of 12. And the beating of the drum hasn't stopped since. Marching band, concerts, and garage bands has been our lives till ah, what's today... boom-boom-boom, bam, bam, bam. This is what I hear in my head, always. But he is good, I mean real good. This boy can play a drum and it is amazing. He'd kick me if he knew I was posting this, so I won't show him. Today he starts drum line practice, yet again, but this time he is assisting the teacher with the new lil drummers just getting started. We love him dearly and couldn't be any more proud of my baby boy, our son...

Our Little Boy

Do you Hear,
What is so Near?
Those happy little Feet,
Who Never miss
A Beat.
The Happy Joy,
Of our little Boy.
Who's silly Laugh,
Makes us Whole
Not Half.
And Then at Night,
When He's tucked in Tight.
Will he ever Know,
How much
We Love Him So?

Ahhhhhhhh...

Well, I'm all caught up, once again. I had a great trip to the beach and some fun times searching for the perfect treasures for the Marie Antoinette swap. The beach was great, sun and rain. All of it was fabulous. I even delivered a order of angels for my friends shop there at Virginia Beach.
And the Angels for Brianna Auction looks like it was a great success. What an honor that was for me to be a part of. So I want to share some pictures of all my good times and travels, hope you enjoy.

Well Good Morning Sun Shine!
This first picture is of what we saw first thing in the morning out our balcony at the hotel, right on the beach. What a view. And this was the best time to catch a glimpse of the dolphins frolicking in the water. Although they were also right out there with the people too. One surfer was trying to get real close but those dolphins out smarted him every time.

There is so much History here its hard to keep track of it all. But they have done some great things in Virginia Beach to celebrate it 400th birthday. These next few pictures are some of the beautiful things to see...

I call these two King Neptune and Lady Virginia. He is set right outside the big beautiful Hilton Hotel on the Beach on 31st street. Look at the abs on this guy. It is a beautiful sculpture I always visit him when I'm there.

Here are more pictures in the daylight...

How many crunches do you think this guy does everyday?

Then a storm rolled in , literally! It rolled. But it was great too.

This rolled in from the left...

and this rolled in from the right.

It was actually great to watch the storm so up close and personal. I hadn't done that since I lived in Chicago at the wee age of 8.
And this was the beach life saving police getting people out of the water and off the beach. We heard him on his loud speaker say to a guy in the water, "GET OUT OF THE WATER" The guy comes running out of the water, then we hear "AND PUT SOME CLOTHS ON"! Really, a ocean streaker. Those poor dolphins.
But the sun came out again and I was back on the sand, with my summer read. Only got 3 chapters in so far, I will have to read on the deck at home I guess. It was great and can't wait to go back.

Here are more random pictures of Virginia Beach, VA...

A tribute to the military.

And to close this is the view at night, looking across the city, sun going down, Ahhh...
Ya know I don't think I appreciated it enough when I lived here, I was less then 10 miles for the Ocean. But I sure do appreciate it now. The beach is forever a part of me.

Devoured Roses...

We had visitors last night and look what they did to my Roses. It seems as though some Deer came over for dinner last night uninvited. They ate every last rose bud I had. I was going to cut another 12 roses this morning to make a bouquet for my guest room . Each bush had at least 20 buds on them and this is what I found...

Before...
AFTER!
