Portobello Santa...

Yesterday I made a Christmas delivery and spent the day helping with Christmas decorations at Portobello Road, (A shop I work at once a week). Nothing like a little Christmas decorating to put me in the mood for the Holidays, it was so fun. But this Santa is what I am really excited about.
I call him ~Sir Santa~We put him in the White room right away, he fit in nicly there. I'm also going to make some with red clothing and a whiter white. Maybe a Green too, like a woodland Santa.
I will have some on my Etsy shop very soon. And much more Christmas to come of course. I feel I'm just getting started.

The show I'm doing is creeping up on me faster then I would like. But I like the pressure. I feel it makes me work better and faster. We will see how I do with just a few day left and not enough goodies to show.

Well, here is another shot of ~Sir Santa~ in the white room.
I hope you enjoy.

So Exciting...

Well, exciting for me anyway. I sold my first item from my Etsy shop. How great is that. I didn't expect to get this big a thrill out of it. I've been selling dolls for nearly 18 years. But I guess since it is the first time ever selling anything on the web for me, it is very exciting.
This is the item I sold. One of my vintage watch brackets. This one happens to be my very favorite too. I had added a little charm to it, a silver star with wings, my signature touch. I just thought it was so sweet.
Anyway, I have been at my sewing machine all week and got away one day to work at Portobello Road. We are just getting the store ready for Christmas. But at home I am surrounded by naked Santa bodies, its very funny at times. I've also finally finished decorating the last wall in my sewing room.
Its been bare for quite a while. I just love my old Christening dresses, I have a great collection. So I thought I'd add a few to the wall. Hopefully to inspire me more to make more of my Heavens Angels.
This is one of my Heavens Angels, on display (for sale) at Portobello Road. I will have some at my Etsy shop again very soon, with a couple new looks.

Well, back to the sewing table. Its gotten cold around here, Santa needs a coat...

What's up...

So here I am, with a thought even. I have been away for much to long, I hope I have not lost any of my visitors. Everyone gets busy, overwhelmed, and stressed. But I am good. I have missed hearing from so many, but hope ya'll come in and visit again.
I really thought if I have to talk about the weather again, I may need to take some time away. I can talk about all that's been up, but that could be boring. It was just lots of doll making, and delivering. I sell the treasures I make to 5 stores near or almost near me. This time of year it really keeps me busy, plus I have a show coming at the beginning of November. I have this very small business, but It is mine, all mine. It's what I've done for nearly 18 years and I love what I do. I'm lucky that way.
Hubby and I just celebrated our 23rd Wedding Anniversary on October 12, and my Prince bought me a new camera. It is a Canon Power Shot A560, what ever that means, but I love it. I am just learning how to play with it. But hopefully my pictures will look much better. One thing I'll need to figure out is how to make the picture files smaller to fit on my Etsy shop. I'm not use to such power this camera has. Here's a few more random shots I took around the house...

Anyhoo, I have finished up the last of my Halloween treasures and I am on to Christmas work. I will (hope) to be even more busy. And I hope to stay on task as the holiday's approach. We'll see.

I made one last Hallow'd treasure to put on my Etsy shop. Last March, a good friend gave me these springs...
My friend said make something and this is what I came up with.

Meet Zelda my wicked beauty... Made of muslin, paper, and wool roving. Sculpted nose with painted eyes and lips. Wool roving hair and a paper hat I made topped with a rusty bell. And her double collar is made of cotton print of hearts diamond, clubs and clovers, and black netting underneath. And of course, she sits atop an ole' rusty bed spring.

So that is it for now. I will be trying to keep up the posting, and surely I will show some of my Santa's and Christmas Angels and Snowmen too. So stay tuned...

Happy October all...

It is here, the weather has finally cooled and I feel it in the air, can you feel it?
Here comes Halloween.
Ghost and Goblins will give us a fright,
to spook and scare us in the night.
I am so inspired by this holiday. All the shops have theirs and now its time for me to make some frightful's for my shop around the corner. I'm hoping to have a few new things for my Etsy shop soon, a change is a comin, so be on the look out for that.
I'm working on Halloween things and I have a show next month so of course some Christmas too. I can't wait to show and tell my Santa's. I've been sketching all summer and can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Saturday, Hubby and I went for a "fall" drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Even though the leaves hadn't changed just yet, it was wonderful, and beautiful. It was like standing in heaven looking down. It was so peaceful, what a great time we had. We stopped for lunch at the Peaks of Otter, And sat by the lake below and just let the sun and crisp air wash over us. So peaceful, a perfect day.
We plan to go back again in mid October. We were told its when the leaves will have changed and will be even more beautiful.
